The Regent Inn (2), Betong, Sarawak

Oh I'm in Betong for second time AGAIN! Booked 2 nights stay at The Regent Inn.
This time my room was close to receptionist. Maybe because I booked earlier or it wasn't packed that time?!
I could online in the room. But it was lagging and could not connect to internet sometimes especially night time.

And the room was much more bigger and spacious than my first stay. Same price RM 40 with one queen bed. The bed was comfortable. Just the room sound proof has to be further improved. Overall I was satisfied with it. Water cooler with hot and cold water was near to my room so it was pretty convenient for me to get water supply.

Got wardrobe! Last time NO.

Got mirrors in the bathroom. Last time NO too. Got hot shower in the bathroom but it was rather emotiona cause it got hot and cold so sudden and it was hard to adjust in between.

Another mirror in the room.
It was prohibited to smoke in the room but I didn't understand why there was a ashtray for cigarette on every room.

Good Time Cafe

Dinner with friends at Good Time Cafe.
The place was crowded with people especially families. It's close on Monday and not that expensive.

Let's see what we have here:

Spicy fish and chips RM 12
Indeed the fish is spicy enough.

 Crispy chicken chop RM 9.50
I didn't taste it. I guess all fried thing taste almost the same?

 My lamb chop. RM 12
Can chose either black pepper sauce, mushroom sauce and garlic butter. I chose garlic butter.
The sauce wasn't that good, no garlic taste. Though the lamb chop didn't have the 'lamby' taste, but I didn't like it. The meat was tough and not juicy at all. It was a bit overcooked.

Overall the price isn't that high. But if you have high expectation on good food, the place might not suitable for you.

4 girls Saturday night at Elephant Cafe & Bistro, Kuching

As the name implies, there are a few elephant portraits in the cafe.

Tiffany snapped the elephant

My grilled chicken and salad RM 15.90
I like the sweet and sour dressing very much.
Slices of grilled chicken, tomatoes, cabbages, lettuce, fruits and raisins. Thumbs up.

Portion is big and enough to fill one big stomach.

My tasteless iced peppermint tea. RM 3.80

Me and Lynn

Lynn and Rowena

It happened that me and Lynn were primary classmates, Rowena and I were secondary classmates and Rowena and Lynn knew each other too. What a coincidence. And it was pleasant that we could finally met out together.

Tiffany with mushroom soup and kids tableware.
The server gave the tableware by voluntary without us requesting. No wonder we need to pay the service charge. It's a casual dining place.

Xian Ding Wei Taiwanese Room (2), Kuching

Last outings with Cecilia before she is back to continue her study. Second visit to this place, with same companion. LOL.

We order 2 set meals at RM 8.90 each, include 1 main meal, soup and jasmine tea

Her ginger meat with rice

My sweet and sour fish with rice

 Lotus and peanut soup

My jasmine tea and Cecilia's fruits tea. She had 2 glasses of drinks.

Overall the food is okay for me. Other a la carte items are pretty expensive. Great for once a awhile indulge in expensive foods but not all the time.

The night at Ajiten & Basaga

Dinner with my 2 besties at Ajiten Ramen at Crown Square

Cecilia's Sakana Furai Bento RM 19

The bento includes fried fish fillet, 2 dumplings, potato salad, mapo tofu, rice, miso soup and fruits.
Cecilia said the fish fillet was not nice. The tofu tasted bad to me. I had a bite and then I put it back. LOL. But the bento is too big for 1 normal person appetite.

 My Gomoku Ramen RM 12

There were pork, mix veggies, mushroom, seafoods (squid and prawn). The ramen was little and the soup was salty to the max! But it was filling because of generous portion of the pork and some seafood.

Chai Kee's Ajiten Ramen. RM 16. I tried this ramen twice or more years ago and I remembered I didn't like it. She said the ramen portion was again too little for her.

 16 years friendship

Next, chill out at Basaga, near Chong Lin Park there.

The stuffs there are pricey. I only afford to drink warm water. RM 0.50. Even Cecilia paid it for me. Haha.

10 years friendship. Future engineer, dentist, lawyer, hotelier, and me(still a doubt)?? Also the employed one are a nurse, a tourist guide and a IT professional (and his gf accountant).
Some of them I had not met for years. Perhaps 6 years? The time indeed has passed very quickly before I realised it.

The Tarot Salmon Japanese Restaurant, Kuching

Lunch with former colleague at The Tarot Salmon, Padungan. It's owned by The Tarot Cafe and The Batik Boutique Hotel is just beside the restaurant.

 My okonomiyaki@Japanese Pizza RM 11.90
Yummy and affordable. But I do recommend for sharing for few people cause one people would sure can't finish the whole pizza.

 Chicken Katsu Don RM 9.90
My friend said it was delicious but she couldn't finish the rice. The rice portion was big.

 Tako Yaki RM 7.90
Not bad.

Free flow of green tea at RM1.50 per person. The place is small but quite comfortable. There is only 1-2 servers around. The soy sauce was salty and the wasabi was very different compare with Sushi King. The taste was milder and the texture was also different.
Definitely return again though the price is a bit high. I wanted to try the Salmon Don.

It's July!

Wow, today is the fourth day of July!

I have to admit my holidays has not been utilized wisely. I planned to work for these last long uni holidays but I failed. My final year project and temporary working period drags me. It's really hard to find temporary job. Maybe I'm not lucky enough to get good employers or my network is not wide and good enough. Attended a few interviews.

Finally I found a really so called temporary job for 3-4 days as an admin assistant in a music school. The school management decides to look for a full timer and they have found one. So I just replace for few days before the permanent one comes to work. Spotted some wealthy parents that send their lovely and active children to learn arts and music. Another surprise is the teachers all are younger than me. I think they are still schooling  in secondary form. They teach violin, piano and art classes during weekends. Younger labors are more economical. That's how the school earns money ya. LOL.

Oh, seriously I need another job!

P/S: Isabella Cafe @ Kuching may be a good place for gathering and chit chat, but certainly not for a drink or eat session! The beverages is pricey. 100Plus for RM4.20? Undeniably, it's not good place for a student like me.
