Taiwan Cha Ya Cafe

Located in Jalan Padungan, Taiwan Cha Ya Cafe serves smoked duck and a few Taiwanese rice and noodle options for lunch and dinner.

Hot Green Bean/Red Bean/Barley Mix RM2.50
one of the few shops in Kuching serving this rare trio combination cooling drink!

Cha Ya Rice (Duck Rice) RM8.50
Although it's the signature item of the shop, I found this dish very ordinary. There's nothing special of the smoked duck meat.

Fu Zhou Fish Ball Soup RM4
three pieces of decent size of fu zhou fish ball in seaweed soup and garnished with fried shallot

minced meat filling wrapped in the fish ball

Beef Noodle RM8.90
noodle with sliced beef, beef tripe, potato chunk, carrot and Taiwanese cabbage.
the soup was so rich and aromatic with various spices and slightly spicy. The sliced beef absorbed the goodness of the rich soup. Slurp!

Nando's Viva City

Nando's Peri-Peri Flame Grilled Chicken has finally hatched it's egg in Viva City Kuching!

It's my third time having Nando's. First with my fellow coursemates in The Mines and second with my sisters in Sungei Wang.

There were three of us. We ordered a meal platter (RM54.90) and a bottle of mineral water (RM3.50). The meal platter is inclusive of 4 pieces of chicken (2 quarter legs and 2 wings), 2 glass of bottomless drinks (we had Iced Lemon Tea) and 2 regular side dishes.

Meal Platter (R) RM54.90
recommended for 2-3 person
for sides, we chose Peri Chips (R) & Mediterranean Rice (R)

the chips was great but the rice was rather bland and mushy

Although there's 10% service charge, we had to help our self to refill the iced lemon tea. Queues and crowds were visibly spotted in Nando's Viva City during meal hours especially on weekends and holiday. Best go during off peak hours to skip long wait!

Big Apple Donuts & Coffee Obsession

Having little sweet treats during celebration =)

Big Apple Donuts: A box of 6 @ RM18
From left to right, top to bottom:
Tira-Cino, Tea-Off, Mumble Jumble, California Almond, White Cashew, The Alien
super love the donuts with nuts especially California Almond & Mumble Jumble =)

Revisited Coffee Obsession again as the foods are definitely worth the price~ Staffs are attentive and friendly too...one of my favorite pick for a hint of Western/Spanish indulgence!

Hawaiian Latte RM9.90 & a bottle of plain water
blue hawaii topped with iced latte...don't really like it due to it's awkward taste

Chicken Linguine RM10.90
sliced chicken with creamy sauce layered on linguine and seasoned with black pepper and parmesan cheese...

Yogurt Lamb Shoulder RM13.90
Two pieces of lamb shoulder lay on two pieces of toasted french bread, topped with mushroom, accompanied with some greens & pearl barley as sides and served with yogurt sauce

another flatlay of lamb shoulder

Pure Fish Ball Cafe, 广东茶室 & Jelly Beancurd

Pure Fish Ball Cafe @ Jalan Padungan offered affordable dinner set for 2 persons =)

Free 1 bottle of drink with the dinner set
Limited drink selection available such as Sarsi, Orange etc
The glass bottle was tall and definitely way too much for 2 pax

Dinner Set RM22
Stir Fried Cangkuk Manis with egg, Butter Chicken, Normal Fish Ball Soup & two bowl of plain rice.
Both the cangkuk manis and butter chicken was good and delicious. I tried their fish ball soup twice and the fish ball soup tasted awkwardly bitter for both times! Avoid the fish ball soup and order tom yam soup instead if you do not want to get disappointed with it! Hope they will continue with this great dinner deal and offered much more food selection to boost more sales!

Tried out Kong Tung Cafe 广东茶室 @ Ang Cheng Ho

Cantonese Kueh Tiao RM8
served with fried prawn skewers, chicken pieces and probably their signature stuffed chicken wing with special ingredients
the fried kueh tiao seemed did not pairred well with the gravy =(

Mixed Vegetables Rice RM8
served with fried prawn skewers, meat with sweet braised sauce and stuffed chicken wing

Waited for 30 minutes for my meal to be served. The foods was okay, just it was a bit oily and greasy as almost all dishes in one plate were deep fried/stir fried. The hygiene was rather poor. You will notice when you leave your table upon finishing, the birds will fly in, stopped by the table and savour the leftover before the staffs cleared up the dish.

One sunny day, we went to 4th mile area thus dropping by Jelly Beancurd as I craved for some sweet stuffs!

Taro Beancurd RM6.20
beancurd immersed in syrup and topped with sweet & dense taro...it was canned taro, probably imported from Taiwan. I opted for no ice. Nevertheless, I enjoyed this refreshing dessert~
