5D4N Bangkok Trip 2018 Food Post

#1 Yum Saap at Asiatique

Our first meal in Bangkok. We didn't know what to order, ended up the food came out weird and it was spicy so we just ate some and threw the remaining one. We had Mama Pork Noodles with Fish 95 Baht (right), Crispy Dumpling Pad Thai 99 Baht (middle) & a type of don't know what salad with assorted ingredients and super spicy at 109 Baht.

Total Bill with 7% =  383 Baht

#2 Morning Breakfast @ 7 Eleven

Ham Cheese Toast

Bangkok Banana...it's cute and there is inner banana filling...way too sweet for me

#3 After You at Central World
We went around 12.20 noon and I thought it would be crowded but it was the other way around with the restaurant just a few tables taken.

the menu (1)

the menu (2)

Matcha Toast 225 baht
The toast was good, crispy, full of butter flavor. I personally don't like the cream and somemore two scoops of matcha ice-cream? The mall was cold, and thus we were freezing cold and we could't finish the ice-cream and cream.

#4 Chocolate Ville

We made reservation in Chocolate Ville Facebook on that morning. We received reply and requested us to reach on time at 5pm or else they will cancel our reservation. We arrived there around 5 minutes late but they still kept our reservation.

German Pork Leg 475 Baht
We thought this was the signature so we ordered this but the "porky" taste was so strong. The pork was so tough and oily.

Seafood Clear Tom Yam 235 Baht
We thought this came with pot but it came in small bowl. It was very spicy.

Coconut for each of us 90 Baht for one
Coconut juice the best drink ever in Bangkok!

We wanted to order plain rice to complement our meal but there was no plain rice in the menu.
Total bill: 890 Baht for two pax

The time we went there was no crowd so it was not hard to secure a table.

Our view from our table

#5 On the 3rd morning, we tried the porridge stall outside our guesthouse.

I also bought this to eat with our porridge after seeing saveral people bought those.

Pork porridge with century egg

Fish porridge with eggs

2 bowls of porridge = 110 Baht

All these for 20 Baht (3 empty & 1 with kaya)
I thought it was our Malaysia Chinese You Tiao alike, but to my horror it was cold, oily and I prefer our own version of you tiao.

#6 Mango Sticky Rice @ Chatuchak Market

I simply bumped into one stall and had this. It's around 60-70 Baht. Forgot the actual price. Mango in BKK was good.

#7 McThai in Union Mall

Samurai Value Meal 152 Baht, comes with a regular drink and fries
I upgraded my drink to Iced Lemon Tea with addition 4 Baht...total 156 Baht
the burger was good the quality was as good as our Malaysia McD GCB =)

#8 Sansap @ Terminal 21

Tom Yam Seafood Hotpot 570 Baht
There were quil eggs, cheese, seaweed, corn surrounding Tom Yam Mama Noodles & seafood

We shared this for two and ordered a plain rice (25 Baht) for sharing.

Spicy as always.
Total Bill with 10% + 7% + 1 drink (60 Baht) = 771 Baht

#9 On the 4th morning, we tried another porridge stall located just outside our guesthouse near the Pratunam Morning Market.

100 Baht for two bowl of porridge...too much white pepper though

#10 Petite Audrey at Siam Center

Thai Tea Crepe Cake 125 Baht
I like this, not overly sweet with thai milk tea taste.

Magic Violet Sizzling Roti 195 Baht
Bits pieces of roti/you tiao alike bread with chunks of sweet potato pieces & sweet potato sauce, topped with vanilla ice-cream.
It was good but way too much for 2 petite tummy

We also order a pot of Twinning Peppermint to cleanse our sweet tooth

Total bill with 10% service charge & 7% VAT = 531 Baht

#11 Som Tam Nua, papaya salad restaurant at Siam Square

Fresh Coconut 70 Baht & Fruit Punch 65 Baht

Left: Pork Shoulder BBQ 115 Baht
Right: Som Tam with salted egg 85 Baht
The som tam was so so spicy. Although we had the dish with plain rice, but we couldn't stop removing the chilli and the seeds from the salad.

Pomegranate Juice
Cooling and sweet, can found anywhere in the street.

#12 Morning Breakfast @ 7 Eleven

After our final shopping at Pratunam Morning Market on our last day of our trip, we headed to 7 Eleven for our breakfast.

Hot Green Tea

It's frozen so it took some time to heat up this.

Fish Markerel Rice
This is good, just like those served in Japanese restaurant. I was superb full after had this for my breakfast. Love the big grain of rice.

Pratunam Casa, Bangkok, Thailand

Pratunam Casa
Address: 122/59 Ratchaprarop Rd, Khwaeng Thanon Phaya Thai, Khet Ratchathewi, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon 10400, Thailand

Stayed at Pratunam Casa for a total for 4 nights. I booked the Suite room in Agoda and it was around RM128.00 per night per room. The hotel is exactly same as the pictures in the Agoda. It's a very recommended place to stay as you can just wake up as early as 5.30am or 6am and get ready to shop at Pratunam Morning Market as it is just 2 minutes away. After the morning shopping, you can have street foods for breakfast or opt to 7 Eleven to hunt for packed foods. Then, go back to hotel to freshen up and prepare for another shopping spree at 10am! It's very easy to get a taxi at the main street so you can forget about Uber or Grab there.

Positive points
  1. high in rating/good reviews in Agoda (8.7 - Excellent)
  2. good location (nearby street foods, Pratunam Morning Market (wholesale), massage place, 7 Eleven, Family Mart)
  3. affordable
  4. spacious (great for shopaholics)
  5. complimentary foods given in lobby
  6. individual air cond (can adjust temperature freely)
  7. separate bidet & bathroom
  8. fridge & microwave (which we never utilized) provided in room
  9. weighing scale in lobby to use
  10. basic amenities provided (shower gel, hair shampoo, drinking water, umbrella, shower cap etc)
  11. only 4-5 rooms in the guesthouse(one room per floor) (we are given room 301, 2nd floor of the building)
  12. super helpful and friendly staff (thumb up for both lady staff and also the guy staff. He helped me to drag the luggage to main street, waited for me to secure a taxi and move everything to the taxi. Very touched and sweet of him)
  13. complimentary cold drinking water upon arrival & check in
A thank you card =)

Hotel contact information & locality

Weak points
  1. no lift (bad thing when you need to carry luggage upon arrival and departure, but the staff there will help you with your luggage)
  2. no door for bathroom but merely curtain (not good when you poo and bath cause can smell and see through from room)
  3. located in small alley, not accessible by cars (need walk few steps & drag luggage to main street)
  4. no disposable dental kit provided
  5. quite hidden and some taxi driver find this hotel a bit hard to locate (just bring around the name card given by the staff of Pratunam Casa for ease of locating and contact)
  6. 10 mins walk to BTS Phayai Thai, 15 mins to Platinum Fashion Mall & Central World/Siam Big C (a bit far)
Spacious area

King size bed

big space for storing shopping hauls

only curtain as 'door'

the drinks in the fridge is chargable

microwave for use

separate bidet & bathroom
(save time to get ready)

Complimentary foods
I took bananas and also tried the cup noodles there.
