1. Lhong Tou Cafe
From W22 by Burasari, we walked for 5-8 minutes to the infamous Lhong Tou to taste the instagrammable Teochew Porridge Set
There's a machine outside the cafe where you will get your order number. There's estimated waiting time also depending number of patrons and type of table you would like to have. We have to wait for quite a number of table if we would like to sit at the double decker seats. In the end we chose to dine in normal table because we were too hungry and the double decker seats queue are freaking long.
The seats at Lhong Tou were really limited and small
Chinese Breakfast Set/Teochew Porridge Set 129baht
To be honest, the whole breakfast set taste awful and I would not return for it. It was nicely presented but taste wise was kind of bad. Luckily bun & milk tea were tasted okay.
Salted Egg Yolk Lava Bun 29baht
Thai Milk Tea at 75baht
Total spending at 250 baht for 1 breakfast set, 1 drink & 1 bun
2. On Lok Yun
Went to another infamous breakfast kind of eatery named On Lok Yun. We took Grab from W22 to On Lok Yun at 82baht, only to find out the new MRT Sam Yot station are just across On Lok Yun. So if you wish to commute by MRT to On Lok Yun, just alight at MRT Sam Yot will do.
Egg custard bread 28baht
The bread is so soft and nice eat with the kaya/custard
1 egg with bacon, ham & sausage 70 baht
French Toast (S) 35baht
This was good as well.
All the foods there are quite small in portion, so don't hesitate to order more.
Total spending for 3 foods with 1 Hot Black Coffee 22baht: 155 baht
3. Ba Hao Tian Mi at small lane of Yaowarat Road
Black Sesame Soy Milk
Good taste but the ice portion is way too much then the soy milk
Black Sesame Pudding 128baht
I love this dessert so much that I went back the next day for second dose before checking out at W22. The black sesame syrup was not that sweet and all the black sesame syrup and black sesame pudding matched so well with the gooey milk pudding. The pricing was more to high end but the taste is really worth my money =)
It's a tiny shop with super limited place to dine in. I accidentally bumped into this place when going somewhere, so stopping by to try. Try to avoid night time because the crowds are crazy.
4. Toasted bread at Yaowarat Road
Just went to the stall, grab a paper and write your order, and finally wait for your order
Toasted Bread 45baht
(1 sugar butter, 1 custard)
We ate the bread like 2 hours after purchase and to us there's nothing special on the bread
5. Sweettime Dessert along Yaowarat Road
Black Sesame Ball with Milk (Warm) 40baht
Love the black sesame ball but not the milk.
6. Wantan Noodle along Yaowarat Road
Noodle Wantan with pork (60baht) & Wantan with roasted pork (80baht)
We finally found a stall where we can sit and eat and most importantly the queue was not that long. Noodles and wantan both are equally good.
Total spending: 140baht
7. Bird Nest at Xing Li
Bird nest with gingko 200baht
There's plenty of restaurant selling bird nest along Yaowarat Road. I just went in one shop that recommended by travel blogger.
8. Congee stall at small lane (few walks from W22 by Burasari)
Pork Congee with Patanggo 43baht
The congee was a great comfort food for breakfast. Love all the congee at Thailand because in Malaysia, you are more likely to find a porridge than a thickening and creamy congee.
Yaowarat Road at night was super busy and vibrant with crowds and vendors and you will find it super challenging to cross the opposite the road to buy your foods. However, daytime there was a little more quiet where you can have closer look of this historical place.
