Shelvi, my best coursemate invited me for her wedding luncheon in her hometown in Batu Pahat. We haven't keep in touch after our graduation in 2012 yet I was delighted to attend her wedding despite the costly air fares due to school holidays.
Took a half day unpaid double deduction leave to catch a Friday afternoon flight
Boarded a 6pm bus from KLIA2 to Aeon Bukit Tinggi, Klang to meet up my friend
Bought a Family Mart Matcha Swiss Roll RM3.70 before boarding the bus
Bus took for almost two hours instead of one hour to reach Aeon Bukit Tinggi. It was peak/rush hours.
Walked around to hunt for foods for dinner and I settled for Yoshinoya.
Ontama Beef Bowl without Onsen Egg because I just had an egg in that morning for breakfast. Top up RM3.80 for a Wakame Soup & Refillable Green Tea
RM14.80-2+3.80 = RM16.60
Drove for 3.5 hours and finally we arrived at Summit Signature Hotel Batu Pahat at 12.30am
Twin Room at RM93.75 through Agoda inclusive of breakfast.
The building is old and the cleanliness of the room especially the bed was poorly done. Cannot complain too much since it was a budget hotel.
Breakfast
Economic type of foods to fill up tummy
The hotel is located next to a shopping mall but we never stepped in the mall
Grab some time to doll up and did hairdo for the wedding luncheon at Restaurant SY. Stylist at Perfect Cut that I patronize commented that the restaurant that we were about to go that afternoon serve the best banquet foods in Batu Pahat.
Sharing some of the foods served during the wedding luncheon
the rare 7 courses for a wedding reception but the portion, taste and presentation were truly great
Pork knuckle, dried abalone and brocolli etc
This is the first dish and the most scrumptious and delicious one.
I was like WOW when they served this because the first dish was normally not too heavy and this portion was way too big as an appetizer
Herbal Chicken Soup with dried scallop
Soup was pleasantly seasoned and adequately sweet. I like it as it was not too starchy, unlike the conventional shark fin/fish lips type of soup
Duo prawns - oat/nestum & butter
Roast pork...the least preferable dish because it has strong 'porky' taste
Mini Pandan Bun with salted egg yolk...surprisingly it was nice. It was not so common in Kuching to serve these type of mini buns for a wedding reception but this one good. The filling was unusually piping hot on my first gulp.
Mini char siew bun...good too
A small but cozy wedding luncheon
Glass coaster as wedding flavour/door gift
Love the hairdo by Perfect Cut. My friend and the bride gave compliment on my hair =)
Happy Marriage, Shelvi~
Time flies and a lot has changed since the last we saw each other but I was glad to be part of your wedding reception
After the luncheon we went to Han Kee Bakery to buy some famous buns before heading to Skudai
Otak otak bun...not bad
The cakes and pastries were somehow not as appetizing as those I read from social media
Drove for almost 2 hours to reach Skudai from Batu Pahat

Check in Avantgarde Hotel, Skudai
King Bed Room RM138.25 through Agoda
The nearby area of Avantgarde Hotel is so happening and we have difficult time to find parking. Bars, cafes, restaurants and Sutera Mall was all walking distance and some eateries open till midnight.
Had some desserts to fill my cravings at Tian Yuan Dessert Shop, Skudai
My Tang Yuan (RM5) & Mango Sago Ice (RM6.50), excluding 6% GST
The shop was one of the well-known dessert shop but the dessert was disappointing
Went for an hour Thai Foot Massage at RM50
The massage was a mild one cause the lady was tired.
Late Supper for Geylang Frog Porridge
Check out and went for Famous Dart for Noodle/Kueh Tiao Soup
I had the Classic Kueh Tiao Soup (R-RM7.30) with Warm Barley (RM2.80) & my friend had
Crispy Fish Nyonya Laksa (R-RM10.90) with Iced Milk Tea (RM3.60)
After the breakfast we went to Johor Premium Outlet. I didn't get anything there as not in the mood of shopping and it was not convenient cause I had one handbag and a piece hand-luggage with me.

Depart from JPO at 2pm and it took 4.5 hours to arrive KLIA2. Initial plan was my friend would be dropping me at KL Sentral and thereafter I need to board a bus to KLIA2. Traffic was terribly bad so she had no choice to send me directly to KLIA2. Flight was 9pm and I arrived the airport at 6.30pm. Thought I had plenty of time to kill but the timing was just nice for me to eat, walk and shop for breads.
KLIA2 Family Mart Matcha Sofuto RM3.50
It was nice but it melted too fast!
Since I was not hungry after my Matcha Ice-cream, I settled down with Uncle Lim's Cafe Wantan Soup (RM11.50) at Departure Hall for my dinner before boarded the flight back to Kuching
That's end my brief weekend getaway (Fri, Sat, Sun - 3D2N) to attend a wedding luncheon in Johor. Most of time was spent in road trip (KLIA2-Klang-Batu Pahat-Skudai-JPO-KLIA2) which was very tiring and time consuming. Traffic was truly bad and the journey took longer than it should be.
