Fresh & Simple Station

Recently there's a new eating trend developing tremendously in Kuching. Sandwiches! I'm always a Subway lover, thus I was keen to try on the sandwiches in Fresh & Simple Station. Located in Green Road, this shop is selling Submarine Sandwich with plenty of choices.

I don't think we can customize our vegetables, salad, fruits or sauces like Subway did because they didn't offer me to do so. You pick your choice, pay and wait for your sandwiches. 6 inch/12 inch bread is available. Pay RM0.50-RM0.80 for topping up to other breads like Pumpkin bread or wholemeal bread.

6 inch Teriyaki Chicken Sandwich RM4.50, add on to pumpkin bread RM0.80
Tasted alright but less appetizing after you had the lamb sandwich!

6 inch Lamb Sandwich RM10.00, add on RM0.50 to wholemeal bread
Super love this lamb sandwich! It's delicious but personally I think it's a bit expensive.

Dream Trip to Macau

Located across western bank of the Pearl River Delta in Southern Guangdong Province, China,   Macau was an overseas territory of Portugal until 1999. Macau is now one of the World Centre of Tourism and Leisure and the Historic Centre of Macau was fêted as UNESCO World Heritage List.

Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) is sending three lucky bloggers for an awesome 3 days 2 nights trip to Macau. As one of Nuffnangers in Malaysia, I would not want to miss out this golden opportunities! What's the three amazing things that make me want to visit Macau? Unquestionably, I am fascinated with Macau's historic, unique & authentic architecture like Senado Square, Macau's renowned foods such as Almond Cookies & Portugese Egg Tarts and finally magnificent view of Macau casinos.

1. Macau's Historic, Unique & Authentic Architecture
Macau is a place with unique cultural infusion of Chinese, Western and Portuguese cultures. One of Macau amazing architecture is Senado Square. Senado Square is listed n the UNESCO World heritage Site "Historic Centre of Macau". There are several historic and unique buildings around Senado Square such as Leal Senado Buiding, Holy House of Mercy, St Dominic's Church. I would love to visit these beautiful places, perhaps one day, and assemble the precious memories in my blog.

There are also other wonderful sightseeing sites such as  Taipa Village, Chinese Temple, Kun Iam Statue, Macau Tower, Macau Museums and Mount Fortress. Imagine you are standing in one of world's identified cultural and natural heritage. This certainly will be an ultimate and astonishing inspiration for the generations to come.

2. Macau Food Hunting
Macanese cuisine is a blend of Portugese and Sourthern Chinese Cuisine. Portugese Egg Tarts, African Chicken, Pork Chop Bun and Almond Cookies are among famed delicacies in Macau.

I'm blessed to be able to devour Macau well-known Koi Kee Almond Cookies! My bestie, Cecilia is currently serving for hospitality industry in Macau. Last April she went home and we had a quick meet up. She bought me a box of Koi Kee Amond Cookies! Koi Kee Almond Cookies is light, delicate, super crumbly and they seriously melt in your mouth. I'm missing it! I wish I could savor some of other exquisite kind of Macau foods and compile it in my travelogue!

Macau infamous Koi Kee Bakery Almond Cookies with Whole Almond

My adorable niece Lynelle was busy picking up the Macau Almond Cookies to try on =)

3. Magnificent View of Casino Light in Macau
Macau is also known as the "Monte Carlo of the Orient". Macau's largest source of revenue comprises of gambling tourism.  Of course I do not gamble, neither do I gamble even during Chinese New Year. In fact, I would love to experience the beautiful night life of Macau myself. There are 44 legal facilities available in total in Macau. How would it be the Casino Lights in Macau? I always watch the amazing scene of Macau casino in TVB Dramas, thus I hope to have the opportunity to visit this magnificent place myself and share my Macau travelogue with my readers of my blog.

Pinocchio Western Cuisine, Hui Sing Garden

Can't recall when I had my last western cuisine? More than half year or more ago?

Headed up to Hui Sing Garden for Pinocchio Western Cuisine. It's actually a stall located inside a coffee shop/kopitiam.

The simple and only menu:

Can choose any 2 side dishes for the main meal
Pinocchio will update their latest menu very soon and there will be a slight changes on the sides and meal. No more sides dishes to choose to complement the mains.

Our order number and eating utensils

Pinocchio Chicken Chop RM12.80 with sides spaghetti and wedges

Pan Fried Norway Salmon with sides savoury rice and coleslaw

Overall the taste was okay on average. The portion of the mains were rather humble, thus choosing some starchy sides like rice and spaghetti would help to make you full. A few menus were not available such as fish and cheese and calamari ring during out visit. Perhaps that's one of the reason there is changes of menu.

UFO Cafe, Usaha Commercial Centre, Stutong

A new dessert shop in town! UFO Cafe...Saw their bunting advertisement along the road side two weeks ago. Then, there were several advertisements promoting their opening in the newspaper.

Concept and menu selections of UFO Cafe was similar to famous Snowflakes and Zen-Q.

Several UFO Specials

UFO Mix It Your Own

I had mine mix it my own.

Grass Jelly Ice Base, with red bean, taro, grass jelly and QQ Balls. RM6.50
Unlike Snowflakes, their topping servings were rather small, making the overall presentation a bit unappealing. Only 2 taros given and a cube of grass jelly. Probably costing constraints.

Some selections such as Soya Ice Base, Ocha Balls and others are still not available, thus making the choices a bit limited during their opening =) Hope can try their Ocha Ball soon!

Osome Wood Fired Pizza, Jln Datuk Tawi Sli

Went to one of famed pizza eatery place in the town and redeem the pizza voucher bought in Supermain. We were approached by several warm and friendly staffs and the service was rather speedy.

Four Elements Pizza RM24.90 with additional topping Bacon
probably the way they bake their pizza using wood fired attract the most. For me the pizza was somehwhat typical and nothing to shout about.

Panna Cotta Almond RM4
extremely humble portion of Italian dessert, topped with aromatic almond.

Everything went well until we made payment at the cashier. Two ladies: the cashier and I both went wacky. After I took the change, we left and drove off, and out of sudden I realised I was given short change of RM10. I went back and demanded for my change and obviously it was too late. They agreed to check and gave me a call after they checked their money during closing. They did called me the following day, however, there was no surplus money but only shortage from their cashier. It was indeed predictable that the money was gone. Lesson learnt for the day:
1. TO ME: Be alert when paying bills and check your MONEY!
2. TO THEM: Even if I intended to cheat the RM10 or I made mistakes, but they are still short of money in their cashier. Undoubtedly, someone has a huge questionable payment system in their cashier.

Bella Italia, RH Plaza

My third visit to Bella Italia. First time was pretty impressive. Second time was kinda disappointing. Third time was another let down experience again.

Vanilla Milk Shake RM8
sweet and rich milk shake with strong vanilla ice-cream taste

Fettuccine alla Carbonara RM26
We came Bella Italia hunting for this. The portion was rather small for sharing. Taste was alright, but I'm not sure whether the taste quality is maintained or has dropped!?

Our honor of guest of the night. Queen. The only thing she enjoyed a lot in this restaurant was Hot Milo.

Pollo Pizza RM25
Pizza with chicken pieces and fungi. Dashing our hopes, the pizza was found to be very very dry. Perhaps some key ingredients such as pineapple could save the whole pizza?

Eat with your eyes!

#1 Snowskin Mooncake

Lovely Doraemon, Doraemi, Hello Kitty snowskin mooncake =) Love the Doraemi eye lashes~~

 #2 Flower Pot Ice-Cream

Strawberry ice-cream in flower pot topped with oreo crumbs, peanuts and rock like candy
Looked so real which is found in Kuching Festival 2014.

#3 Another Flower Pot

Mashed potato topped with choice of sauce and fungi! I had mine with black pepper sauce. Also found in Kuching Festival 2014.
