Siniawan Night Market

Few days ago, I was brought to Siniawan Night Market. I wasn't told where I was going. Sitting in the car, wondering on the destination and feeling not so comfortable as the road was so dark and most importantly I totally had no idea where the road lead me to. Nearly reaching the destination, I was told on Kampung Siniawan and luckily we managed to reach the night market safely that only open at Friday and Saturday night.

the glittering Siniawan old street

stalls along both sides of the street with dining tables and chairs in the middle
Certain parts of the shoplots were built with wood. The street is very rich in heritage and culture.

to my disappointment, there were actually few stalls operating and the night market is actually short. However, plentiful choices of foods and drinks were available.

I was forced requested to snap on the photos.

Claypot Lamb RM20
hot and aromatic soup, cooked with rich herbs and spices such as ginger and lemongrass. way too much for 2 persons sharing!

Eaten halfway of 'Fat Lady" Three Layer Pork RM10
flavorful and nicely grilled pork!
you can also find these in Premier 101

Indeed another eye-opening night =)

Stay, or Quit?

A raining Sunday afternoon. I was hoping around Facebook, photography and Google Search to spend the time. Something strive past my mind. I found something useful yet I wasn't keen on doing any decision yet.

Is It Bad to Stay at One Company for Very Long?

Adapted:

  • If you're happy at your job there is no reason to leave because you've been there too long, just make sure you are keeping yourself and your skills marketable.
  • Times have changed and job-hopping is the new normal.
  • You can possibly make more money faster by job hopping, by opening yourself up to lots of opportunities, and that job hopping allows you to build a powerful and diverse personal network.
  • If you are unhappy at your current position, don’t necessarily listen to all the people telling you to wait it out. Make a commitment to take action. Whether that means searching for a job immediately, taking a break or simply staying positive, it is your decision to make. Own it.
  • Staying too long at a job can also hinder your employment prospects. A lengthy tenure with one company can give the impression that you aren't interested in growing your career. It can also lead employers to think that you may not have the flexibility for success in a new role.

Thus, in a nutshell, I guess the following sentences explains all for the topic of the day.

When is the best time to change jobs? The bottom line is that it's a question of balance. There isn't really such a thing as a perfect resume, because there are so many reasons for leaving a job and for staying at a job. However, do be cognizant of the fact that your decisions matter on a long term basis as well as a short term one.

Malacca Walk Trip: Dinner

#1 Restoran Nancy's Kitchen, Jalan Hang Lekir

Back in Uni, I made a few assignments and exposed to Malacca foods to certain extents but I never dine in a Nyonya style restaurant although I went to Malacca for three times! Thank goodness, during my fourth visit to Malacca I was able to drop by to Nancy Kitchen to try on Nyonya delicacies.

Popiah RM3
Malacca popiah for sure you won't missed up fried lard inside the filling! Very pork-y taste. Hehe.

Pork Pongteh RM12, Hee Piau Soup RM10, Rice RM1.50 & Chinese Tea
two of us shared the above dinner since we weren't that hungry~

Crowds started to come in after we had our dinner. That's why early bird catches the worm!

Hang Lekir street

# 2 Ban Lee Siang Satay Celup

We asked for direction from our hostel owner and went venturing using a map given. We started our walking journey around 5pm to avoid crowds but who knows there was no queue again. Really out of our expectation! Perhaps some places are overrated by tourists? There were two Restoran Ban Lee Siang, both claiming themselves as authentic one. We went to the one less furnished and listened to one of the staff/owner that both restaurants were different and operated individually. We never knew whether we went to the real Ban Lee Siang but for sure we went to the one next to those most people going one.

Nevertheless, we enjoyed our light dinner very much since we were not local Malaccan and we hardly differentiate well good satay celup. Make sense?

70 cents per stick
the satay sauce were spicy!!!

# 3 Restoran Sin Yin Hoe, Lorong Hang Jebat

Dropped by this eatery place that famous in Fried Oyster Omelette. Surprisingly there was no queue and crowds at all during my visit. Is it not more famous liao?

Fried Oyster Omelette
it was good and I pretty like it. Although different with those Kuching style O-Jian, this one tasted very nice and really worth a try!

Fried Hokkien Mee
we order this to compliment with our oyster omelette since merely omelette sounds dry and not happening enough for a dinner huh?!

Malacca Walk Trip: Breakfast

Thinking of where to head for breakfast at the heritage town of Malacca? Simply walk around and I believe you can easily find any delicacies nearby Jonker Street!

#1 Low Yong Moh Restaurant Dim Sum, Jalan Tukang Emas

Open as early as 6am, this place offers a wide selection and most importantly it is a very reasonably priced dim sum place. We only managed to tried a few type of dim sums to save our tummy tank for other foods.

Light dim sum breakfast for 2 person...around RM15
was surprised to see the coffee bag dipped in the coffee...cause never saw coffee bag in Kuching before...

#2 Calanthe Art Cafe, Jalan Hang Kasturi

Craving for coffee to wake up your day?

The only cafe that serves 13 States' Coffee in Malacca

Penang Coffee...Superb black looked coffee roasted with Robusta beans.
very kao!

Sarawak Coffee...50% of Robusta beans & 50% of sugar, margarine & wheat flour
No margarine and wheat flour taste gei?

Both small cups of  those speciality coffee priced at around RM4.50 each, inclusive taxes.

#3 Chung Hwa Coffee Shop

1/4 Hainan Steamed Chicken (RM16) with 5 pieces of Chicken Rice Ball (40cents each)...total RM18!
I prefer the steamed chicken eaten with loose chicken rice rather than rice ball...too bad Chung Hwa Coffee Shop serves only chicken rice ball...Upon seated you are served with one set of steamed chicken with rice ball...you doesn't need to worry what to eat cause you have no choice at all.. but still crowds out there are overwhelming! To avoid the crowds, it is highly advisable to go during the morning time, around 9.30am.

#4 Jonker 88, Jonker Street

One of the most common and famous shop in the street. Great place for one bowl of hot Laksa and icy Cendol.

Nyonya Asam Laksa RM7 with Cendol Ice RM4....
love the beancurd and tauhu pok dipping in the laksa gravy!

天择律 1: 被同事出卖,是合乎天择律的

Hope that I could finish reading the journal  < 上班族必懂的 OFFICE 天择定律 > given by a friend 2 years ago by this year.
Here it goes: Meaningful law adapted version from Chapter 1 =)

天择律 1 被同事出卖,是合乎天择律的

  • 说闲话要慎选地点,严防隔墙有耳。{bio carefully right, left, up and down before you complain on your work!!}
  • 老实说,对同事抒发工作郁闷,或是发主管牢骚在人际相处上也是不妥的做法。毕竟同事间的互动,应该是彼此勉励打气,而不是情绪化地攻击他人,否则很容易变成连锁反应。
  • 有些人和你聊天时其实只是随口附和,只有你傻傻地以为你们站在同一阵线,最后不被出卖真是上辈子烧好香来的。{super agree...never believe 100% on your colleagues!}
  • 就算大家感情再好,大难临头还是各自飞啊!{...like like...}
  • 实际上,人非圣贤,主管和老板也是人,不要凡事都以高标准和偏差观来批判他们。他们也希望你能当面提出意见,让彼此得到最好的工作环境和协调,而不是用一堆闲话把和谐气氛搞坏.
  • 主观的认定和批评会得到最坏的结果{so deep, must learn to practice!}
  • 遇到危险时扔下朋友的人不是好人

My 2013

Happy Horse Year! This is a super delayed post, thus I guess I'll just make a superb brief one and go on with My 2014!

Nevertheless, all in all, my 2013 was a peaceful one. I actually stepped into real working society for 1 year plus, stayed in the same company, welcomed my super cutie niece Lynelle, voted in Election Day, be the first ever bridesmaid in my life and made one of the most and perhaps the only decision in my life.

I do hope more and prosperous opportunities will come ahead. Happy Horse Year 2014!

Roof Top Guest House Melaka

Located at Jalan Kampung Pantai, Roof Top Guest House Melaka is definitely a wonderful and affordable place to stay. I could rate it as best guest house so far that I have come across. We were served with welcome drink--cool Lychee Drink upon arrival to the guesthouse and a very detailed explanation with map on tourist spot from Mani, the friendly owner of the guest house.

Clean and spacious twin beds with fan and air conditioner

Shared bathroom with hot shower, shower gel and hair dryer attached. Too bad the hot shower was not functioning well during my period of stay.

Help yourself in the morning for these free homemade breakfast and fruits in the pantry table.

Didn't get to try out the loving breakfast in the pantry as we went out to hunt for foods. Highly recommended of this reasonable priced guest house if you visit Melaka. Bear in mind to make accommodation booking earlier as it is always full house. =)

得不到的东西, 我们会一直认为他是美好的, 那是因为你对他了解太少, 没有时间与他相处在一起. 当有一天,你深入了解后,你会发现原不是你想象中的美好.
