Malacca Trip: Day 1

Tough weeks eventually ended! Finally...

I actually went to Malacca during one period of toughest week. Who cares? I don't think I would produce much output if I stay at room to study and do assignment!

2 days 1 night of Malacca Trip with my four roommates. Upon arriving, we went to Dataran Pahlawan  to savour the infamous mille crepe.

Mille Crepe Cafe Mocha RM9.50

Parline Lover RM9.90

Tiramisu RM9

I wanted to try the mille crepe long ago and finally I ate it. But I should not put so much hope on it. The mille crepe was merely okay to me. The only specialty of the cake was the layers and layers that made up the cake. I could feel there were really many layers but in fact, looking close at it, it was just one layer of thin crepe, layer of cream on top of it, followed by the thin crepe and cream repeatedly. And I realised there were only two types of thin crepes, chocolate and vanilla. So the cake house just needed to do different creams for different mille crepes and madee two types thin crepes since they could be used for all mille crepe.

Then we went to check in to The Jiong Guesthouse at Kampung Pantai. Within walking distance to Jonker Street. I booked the room one week ago and bank in money to the Guesthouse account.

Some interesting images and quotes in the guesthouse

Went to take photo of this double room since it was not occupied and the room was not locked. Pretty cozy huh? Recommended place for cheap stay at Malacca.

4 of us in a room. RM25 per person and RM100 in total. Pretty cozy and with air-conditioned.
Sorry for the mess. We threw our stuffs out before went to food and stuff hunting.

The shared bathroom was clean but the whole guesthouse there were only two bathrooms. Hot shower was available. We had to wait for our turn  to bath especially during the peak showering time.

Another bad thing of this guesthouse was the narrow and steep stairs. Caution must be taken when climbing. Worst part was we lived at the second floor and the bathroom was located at ground floor and first floor. So we had to climb up and down for few times.
After checked in, we went to have lunch. We wanted to try the Jonker 88 Nyonya Laksa but the queue was horrible and we ended up eating at the shop next to it. We regretted. Should insist to queue as after we finished eating, the queue was short so we went Jonker 88 for the cendol.

Nyonya Laksa RM4 at Jonker 86

Cendol at Jonker 88 RM3. I had this every time I went to Malacca. This was the third time. Could not give feedback since I never tried cendol at other place in Malacca.

Crowds as usual. People had to stand nearby the occupied table to wait for seats.

This man was trying to caught everyone attention by driving the car with loud music for so many rounds at the Jonker Street.
Night market at Jonker Street. Time for street foods!

Ingredients for popiah

Tried the popiah at Malacca. RM 2.20
They used lard in the popiah. Still nothing beats the best popiah at Serdang Night Market.

The young girl was preparing the maci.

The girl was cutting the maci. Nothing special though. RM 3 per box.

Another famous eatery in Malacca is Geographer Cafe, located at the heart of Jonker Street. My 2 roommates had their dinner at Geographer Cafe while me and other one went for street foods. Many kinds of foods was served there, including Vegetarian, Malaysian and Western style. It catered for both domestic and foreign visitors, and was also a great place gather for the locals.

See the cutie and tiny fan?

Vegetarian nasi lemak

Forgot what was it already.

Geographer Cafe opened all day long and was a great place for drinking session. There was live performance too. The location was strategic and the business was really good. The price was of course a bit high but still affordable since it was classy than most kopitiam.
